Digital Marketing Associate

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Digital Marketing Associate will be working on digital marketing campaigns to promote Queens Library and its programs and services to customers and the greater public. The marketing campaign's goals can include but are not limited to brand awareness, lead generation, event registration, donations, and advocacy. The Digital Marketing Associate will be working with the Senior Marketing Manager to implement promotional advertising campaigns through email, Facebook, Google AdWords, Snapchat, and other digital platforms.  This is a system-wide position and will work closely with the creative/design staff, Government and Community Affairs staff, Community Library Managers and Program Managers throughout the organization.  This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.  This position will be making decisions on a daily basis that will impact budget, the performance of advertising campaigns, and which programs will be promoted.

  • Builds QA email campaigns using email design tool and then, schedules and targets the campaigns through email service provider.
  • Gathers and develops content for email campaigns by reviewing program information in LAMPS or speaking with program organizers. 
  • Selects and edits appropriate images or photos for email campaigns. 
  • Schedules and prioritizes which programs should be promoted.
  • Working with the Senior Marketing Manager, sets up and implements paid advertising campaigns in Google AdWords, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and other digital mediums. 
  • Responsible for creating ads, setting up tracking URLs, campaign structure, monitoring, and optimizing ad performance by adjusting bids or pausing poor performing ad groups.
  • Monitors the ad spend budgets to ensure that campaigns are on track and do not exceed campaign budgets.
  • Works with Senior Marketing Manager and Designers in the creative development process for campaigns including ads, landing pages, social media graphics, website graphics, and landing pages. Ad types can include text ads, banners ads, social media ads, and video ads.
  • Works in support of the marketing campaign reporting and analysis process by implementing tracking and downloading performance data from email, Facebook, Google, and other advertising platforms on a regular basis.
  • Works with Senior Marketing Manager to develop reports in Excel with key performance metrics and supporting analysis. Works independently to download and compile reports.
  • Assists with planning the digital marketing calendar and researching upcoming programs to promote to Queens Library's patrons.
  • Provides other general support as needed. Support activities can include: creating Facebook event pages or Eventbrite pages for high profile programs, updating website content, writing creative brief for designers and copy editors, and creating tracking URLs for campaigns.
  • Supervises the day-to-day work of interns, volunteers, and part-time workers. Responsible for tracking hours and ensuring that timesheets are filled.
  • Performs other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Marketing/Advertising or Business. 
  • Must have 2 to 4 years of overall marketing experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with internal clients.
  • Must be highly analytical and be able to collect marketing performance data and transform the information into insightful analysis.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills. Must be adaptable, with a strong ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Must possess skills or knowledge of online marketing or direct marketing. Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently. 
  • Ability to adapt and learn concepts and skills quickly.
  • Must be proficient with Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Must have experience with HTML design software, image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and knowledge of basic HTML.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in consumer marketing setting or at a membership focused organization is highly desired.
  • Experience in operating an email management platform, analytics, social media and CRM is preferred.
  • Experience with Google AdWords and Facebook Advertising is a plus.
