TASC Coordinator


The TASC Coordinator oversees all aspects of TASC testing and supervises the activities of hourly staff working on the TASC team. Responsibilities include oversight of planning, organizing, and coordinating the daily functions at all TASC testing sites, preparing test materials and schedules, processing examinee information; advising and referring applicants as needed; serving as a liaison and support to on-site testing staff; conducting  outreach and promoting the Library’s HSE programs; serving as a resource for all HSE students and potential test takers; tracking examinees achievement; collecting and analyzing data utilizing the appropriate data management systems (ASISTS/LAMPS). Oversees student intake and referral using NYSED required standardized assessment tests, participating in TASC testing site visits, and serves as the alternate screenings proctor when necessary. Provides coverage of Adult Learning sites, including Adult Learning Centers, JBA sites and YALP on an as-needed basis. Attends staff development meetings, TABE, CASAS, TASC administrations, and HSE conferences as necessary. 

  • Fully understands TASC testing, HSE preparation and its alignment to the mission and goals of Adult Learning in order to create a comprehensive plan for evaluation, assessment, data capture and reporting.
  • Establishes standardized processes and procedures for TASC registration at each site.
  • Oversees, monitors and guides TASC Coordinators and Administrators to ensure that overall quality of the testing program at their TASC testing center is operating at an optimal level.
  • Ensures that all TASC applications and other required paperwork are completely filled out and documented.
  • Trains staff on TASC readiness procedures and ensures that all participants take the TASC Readiness assessment before sitting for the TASC exam.
  • Ensures that all testing sites are staffed with a proctor for all test sessions and provides coverage as necessary.
  • Collaborates with the TASC Test Coordinators and TASC staff on all testing matters, changes, and updates.
  • Ensures candidate eligibility, schedules test sessions, disseminates test notifications for students, and prepares and submits all necessary reports and forms.
  • Registers eligible examinees in the NYSED database and schedules examinees in the OAS/DRC database.
  • Distributes and collects testing materials.
  • Follows NYSED regulations and policies and ensures compliance with regulations and test security.
  • Performs site visits to TASC testing sites on a regular basis.
  • Directly supervises hourly staff, volunteers and interns working on the TASC team.
  • Serves as subject-matter expert and supervisor for TASC Coordinators and Administrators at Adult Learning Centers.
  • Assists with hiring decisions for new staff members working on High School Equivalency preparation and testing.
  • Oversees the TASC cabinet and convenes regular meetings to discuss operations, procedures and updates to TASC.
  • Organizes staff development and trainings related to offered high school equivalency preparation and assessments.
  • Serves in a confidential capacity, reviewing and analyzing correspondence and data in areas, such as student assessment, staff assessment, professional development, internal and NYSED reports. 
  • Maintains program statistical data as required by funding requirements and program standards. Monitors, develops and enhances comprehensive means of assessment and outcome tracking. Prepares monthly and annual reports and on an ad hoc basis as required by the Library and funders.
  • Assists with the evaluation and management of all HSE assessments/screenings.
  • Ensures programming quality based on enrollment/retention by coordinating internal and external audits and resolving all issues to ensure overall positive participant satisfaction. 
  • Submits TASC reimbursement for individual test-takers to NYSED.
  • Works collaboratively with other library departments to promote TASC and ensures that TASC seats are being filled each month according to funder and Library expectations.
  • Organizes the Adult Learning graduation ceremony.
  • Serves as a resource for assessment information to the following; students, staff, area high schools/preparation programs and the community.
  • Represents Adult Learning’s TASC testing services at networking events and is responsible for maintaining effective programmatic partnerships.
  • Provides coverage of Adult Learning sites as needed.
  • In the absence of a site manager, the TASC Coordinator can oversee the daily operation of a site’s program staff.
  • Assists with programs related to high school equivalency (i.e., NEDP and CUNY Math Start)
  • Performs other duties as required.

The schedule for this position will include Saturdays and evenings as well as frequent site visits at multiple program sites as required.


  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of one year in an HSE/adult education setting is required.
  • One year of experience in administering, scoring, and interpreting results for TABE, CASAS, and TASC Readiness.
  • Knowledge of Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) and the National External Diploma Program (NEDP) required.
  • In depth knowledge of ASISTS, NYS Testing Portal, CTB Online Assessment System, and Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Experience handling large volumes of data and working with data management systems preferred.
  • Must have the ability to work with a diverse population and effectively provide customer service to a large number of diverse customers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must be detail oriented, flexible and a self-starter.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Bilingual speaker preferred. English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Some evenings and weekend hours are required.
  • Familiarity with Common Core learning standards, college placement exams, and next steps for HSE graduates.
